It's great to see you again. So how have you been the past year?
Good to hear. So let's set the record straight; The were rumours of your leaving due to increased pressures of being in the band and some even speculated a falling out with lead guitarist, Yazin. Any of this true?
Amal: well, all i can say is that in any band relationships or teams, there are bound to be misunderstandings which can lead to these unwanted pressures. That was all in the past and Yazin and I have never been better.
So by your account, there was an altercation between you and Yazin?
Amal: I wouldnt say that exactly. We just had minor disagreements.
I see. So overall would you say that was the contributing factor to your hiatus?
Amal: Honestly, my studies were falling behind during my first year in sixth form and as much as i loved hanging out with the kidneys, i had to put my studies as priority as this is my final year and i just had to give it my best. so to answer your question, no it wasnt.
So do you still keep in contact with the band? Are you guys working on any upcoming projects together?
Amal: I still keep in contact with them and W do know that there have been some new songs in the making, but in terms of big plans for the future im not quite sure yet.
There was a rumour going around that you were working on a single for a possible solo career! Care to comment on that?
Amal: HAHAHAHA what the--- whoa, i have no idea where that came from. i dont think i'd get as far as on my own than i would with the kidneys. ha ha. besides, i love the kidneys, i wouldnt do that. so, no. no solo career.
Let's talk a bit more about The Kidney Farm's Music. It goes without saying you're a fan of your own music right?
Amal: oh yes, they're amazing. Sometimes i can't even believe i'm part of it. right from the start i've been going nuts about our songs. credits to the brilliant melodic and writers in the group for making such great tunes.
The Kidney Farm's been gaining a lot of thumbs ups from local bands and fans alike. What do you think is the major pulling factor for The Kidney Farm's music and what really sets it apart from others?
Amal: Oh wow i honestly can't say. it's unbelievable how this all happened. even to this day i'm overwhelmed by this fact. i guess when it comes to this, the fans are the ones who would know.
[Laughs] I guess so. Any particular favourite Kidney Farm songs?
Amal: I have more than one. haha. i've been a real fan girl of our own acoustic guitarist and vocals Kaza, especially her song What I Wanna Say. also, i've always loved it when it comes to rocking out our song These Voices. for some reason it's hauntingly awesome.
Awesome! And These Voices, we've heard it live and it'll be coming to the new Album soon. We'll be looking forward to it.
Amal: that's great to know. [smiles]
Speaking of live shows, You weren't at the concert in December, did you have any regrets about that?
Amal: Unfortunately i do. i found out about the concert when i already had plans for December with my family. so i was unavoidably detained.
Well family's important isn't it. Anything you wanna say to the readers?
Amal: I guess i'd just like to say thank you for supporting the kidneys, you guys have been amazing throughout all this and i hope you stick around for updates on kidney music.
That's all for now. Thanks for your time and hopefully we'll see you back in action soon!
Amal: Thank you. [Laughs]
