You can't help but smile when you talk to this gal! We caught up with Nunu on her Birthday (today!) and asked about what's been going down with the Kidneys. How life's been in the Kidney Farm and get a deeper insight on her role as a guitarist, drummer and even in songwriting!
Hi nu! Happy birthday! Hows it feel to be 19 now?
Nunu: Hi!! thank you and yes im 19, it feels weirddddddd haha. i seriously thought im 20 the other day. i've been busy you know so (laughs) I almost..forgot my birthday!Whoa! Don't get too hasty on growing up! Do you feel like you've grown as a guitarist this year? What's your plan for the Kidney Farm this year?
Nunu:: HAHA! i think i am now because at first i started to learn guitar when i wassss 12 perhaps? I get bored sometimes playing the same chords from G to F! (Laughs) So i thought of trying something new which were the drums. I joined a few bands to be their drummer then Kidney Farm happened! ( Hi Kidneys!!) They asked me to join them as a guitarist, of course i said yes! In my head i went, "Finally a debut as a guitarist".
And plans for Kidneys humm, well i heard something big from Yazin. No high hopes for that. Anyway, I think I'll just keep on practicing and see what happens.
Right! you say you're a drummer too. And we did get a taste of your drumming skills in the opening number during "The Kidney Farm and Friends". Will we be seeing more of that switcheroo in the future?
Nunu: Well, that depends on Yazin, Kaza and Nazz! (Laughs) Dayat is getting better in drumming so im proud of him. yayyyy!
So we've tried asking Amal this same question, and maybe you can answer this one; The Kidney Farm's been getting a lot of praise from Other Local bands and getting a bigger following everyday. Why do you think the Kidney Farm's songs appeal to you?
Nunu: Hmm, to me, I think its because of our origins? We dont really cover songs but we produce our own music/songs which is coool . It amazes me how Yazin, Kaza and the rest could make such a nice songs and lyrics!!.
Have you written songs for the Kidney farm? or do you have any plans to write any songs for the kidney farm?
Nunu: For the Kidney farm, no but im trying! I can't think much of a word or sentence to write one. I will try to write one soon but please no high hopes, ok? HAHA!
We'll be looking forward to it! Going back to "The Kidney Farm and Friends", how was the experience for you? Any good memories from it?
Nunu: Too many! we've performed on stage 3 times now first is during our very first gig at Kendo Annual Dinner, Second, at Jerudong Park and the latest was The Kidney Farms and Friends concert! It was epic!! the crowd went wild! They know our names (Laughs) that amazed me. The crowds were very supportive, they are too awesome (Thumbs up)
The fans were definitely great. So any plans to do another concert like that anytime soon?
Nunu: I hope we get to perform more...and more.. I just love the fans and the kidneys! Not only in Brunei but other countries as well!
Any messages to the readers out there Nu?
Nunu: Oh yeah, hi! to readers out there, i would like say thank you, for supporting the Kidney Farm for all these times and we will keep you update with our music.
Alright nu, that's about it. enjoy the rest of your birthday and have hope to sit down with you again!
Nunu: (Laughs) Thank you too
